Election Educational Centre
With a view to create an environment and learning place to celebrate our electoral legacy, to peep into our gold standard electoral management and to learn democracy with Gandhi, a centre – Election Education Centre has been established in the office premises of the Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi. It takes us down the memory lane of election process in the largest democracy of world. With the use of more than hundred archived photographs, maps and references, the centre show cases the electoral journey of country under the supervision, direction and control, of the Election Commission till date.
The Centre was inaugurated on 18th October, 2016 by the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner of India (C.E.C), Dr. Nasim Zaidi in the august presence of the Election Commissioners Sh. Achal Kumar Joti and Sh. Om Prakash Rawat.

Basic Information :- In its more than six decades of democracy, India has evolved and strengthened as world’s largest democracy. One of the architects of this journey has been the Election Commission of India. Free, fair and transparent process of elections with constant technological interventions for efficient and effective delivery of elections are hallmarks of our electoral management.
This centre presents remarkable journey of Indian elections which has bound the countries more and has influenced the countries world over to preserve and cherish the values of electoral management. It also has an important section in Gandhiji’s engagement with democracy, set up with assistance of National Gandhi Museum.
Getting to the Museum :- The Museum is located inside the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi, Old St. Stephen’s College Building, Kashmere Gate, Delhi. The Museum is approximately 500 meter from ISBT/Metro Station, Kashmere Gate Delhi and approx 2 km from Red fort. (GPS coordinates: 28.665344, 77.234753).
The Museum is open from 11.00 AM to 04.00 PM on working days i.e. from Monday to Friday (except national and gazetted holidays). As per convenience of visitors. This centre is open for general public as well as students of ITIs, Schools & Colleges with online booking on the website i.e. www.ceodelhi.gov.in where visitors can plan and book their visit at the time & date of their convenience. As on date 700 students have visited this centre.

- Electoral Management Section.
Gandhi Gallery
Library:- In this section, books relating to election & its procedure, English and Hindi literature have been kept for the office staff & visitors. The books have been procured from reputed publications like National Book Trust, Hindi Academy, Sahitya Academy & Publication Division, Govt. of India and are of varied subjects. The Library also provides various newspapers, journals & magazines and an important place of learning for visitors.
Audio Visual Room :-The section consists of facility for display of films and documentaries including still photographs related with elections. One of the short films is on the first General Election held in Independent India in 1952.
An interesting section presents the transformation from ballot box in 1952 to the Electronic Voting Machine and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) in 2015 elections.
Photo Gallery :-It depicts the election journey of India democracy through the time. Right from the 1951-52, first General Elections to the last election conducted in the year 2015, every aspect of electioneering like preparations for election, voter education, polling, counting, display of results etc. has been showcased. Further, glimpses of various SVEEP activities have also been highlighted in this gallery section. It also covers all the stages of elections and it’s connections with the voters in today’s time.
Electoral Management Section :- This section consists of information regarding every aspect of election procedure. Right from the registration as elector to the counting of result and return of elections has been displayed. Elections of President, Vice-President and Rajya Sabha are also detailed. Each Stage of election process has been described in lucid details. This section showcase electoral roll of Delhi as old as 1923, various government orders and circulars prior to Independence. The use of indelible ink is highlighted through exhibits which suggest that this is now being used in more than 25 countries in the world.
Gandhi Gallery :-It is also added that the building which houses the O/o CEO, Delhi has been declared as one of the 32 Gandhi heritage buildings worldwide. To acknowledge the same and to showcase our respect to our beloved Bapu, one portion of the centre has been entirely dedicated for display related with Gandhiji and his views on democracy.
This section has been setup with assistance from Gandhi Museum. It contains the views of Gandhiji on democracy as far back as in year 1894. Further, chronological details of important events of Gandhji’s life has been displayed for knowledge of all visitors. One of the interesting displays is the signature and writings of Gandhiji’s in different languages.
