Moth Mosque

Moth Mosque

Moth ki Masjid or Moth Mosque is a famous mosque built in the year 1505 during the reign of the Lodi dynasty. With a name that literally translates into Lentil Mosque, legend says that it was built from the proceeds of the sales of lentils that had been grown over time by the Prime Minister of Sultan Sikandar Lodi.

This unique Indo-islamic architectural marvel features a redstone structure, windows with latticework screens, octagonal cenotaphs, open arches and double-storeyed towers. Its semi-circular dome is considered one of the most beautiful gumbads (dome) of its period.
